Shanghai Plans to Attract More Foreign Professionals

Shanghai has issued a new set of guidelines aiming to strengthen services, possibly offer subsidies and other inducements, and improve living environment.

According to a survey, professionals and industry experts concern about the high tax rates, a rising cost of living and a lack of a mature medical system in Shanghai, which may reduce the city’s attraction for professionals from the rest of China and abroad.

Experiences in Visiting Shanghai World Expo

We went to visit Shanghai World Expo last Saturday night. Although I dislike the way that the Expo operates in China, I’d like to share my travel strategy.

First of all, plan the travel itinerary as detail as possible. The Expo park is very large across Pudong and Puxi, you probably get lost if you don’t decide in advance where you want to go.

Hotel Investment in Shanghai

The hotel occupancy rate keeps at a high level during the Expo in Shanghai. It is difficult to book hotels in Shanghai during Expo. Many visitors lodge in the suburban district that’s far from the city center when they come for the Expo. It seems positive for the hotel industry. Should I invest hotels in Shanghai?

After investigation in Shanghai for half month, an investor from Sichuang Province said that some hotels are not much profitable. He explained that although the hotel business is doing so well, the operation cost is terrible too.

Kang Xi Come

‘Kangxi come’ is an entertainment TV talkshow program in Taiwan. It has been broadcasted by CTI-VARI since 2004  and formerly named ‘Strange Ten o’ clock’.

Kang Yong , the male host, is a writer. He got his Film and Television Production master degree in University of California, Los Angeles(UCLA). Xiao S (small S) , the female host, takes the fancy of the audience by her lively, humorous and nonsense hosting style. Chen Han Dian , the assistant host , is known as mimic, the characteristics who he imitates, can be exaggerated more than ten times.

Nuomi.com Launched the Shanghai Site

Nuomi.com, a member of Oak Pacific Interactive Group, is a group purchasing website like Groupon. It launched its Shanghai site after Beijing.

Group purchasing becomes popular in China after Meituan.com copied Groupon from US to China early this year. Since then, hundreds of thousands of Groupon style websites have been launched. This is a typical ‘made in China’ mode.
