Mid-Autumn Gifts in China
Mid-Autumn festival will soon come around. Many Companies in China do not want to miss the opportunity to please their staff, and will give employees more or less festival gifts in this traditional Chinese festival day.
The reception area of our office building is overflowing with boxes of mooncakes these days. And it is said that every staff member will get a box of mooncake this year.
Elementary Education in Rural Area of China
Population and family planning has been established in China for about 30 years, along with the urbanization, there are much less children than ever before in China’s rural area. Less children mean less elementary schools, which means that not all children can go to school near the houses. This is a problem in many countrysides of China.
In the past, there used to be tens of elementary schools in a town, and there was a school within several kilometers. In that situation, children were convenient to go school in the morning and walk home in the afternoon.
Problems of Elementary Education in China
Last time I talked about the situation of English education in China. In that post, I mentioned the child of my colleague. A good news is that he has already transfered to a school in Shanghai. After several days observation, I’d like to discuss the elementary education in China.
In Shanghai, pupils need to arrive school before 8am and classes are over around 3pm to ease the traffic pressure, which also applies to many other cities.
How to Give Present in China
One of Julia’s good friends is going to hold a wedding ceremony this Saturday in Shanghai. Julia is busy in preparing a gift, but she is lost because she can not decide what to prepare.
Not as those people in US and UK, people in China are used to send some money as wedding or birthday gifts. People that with very good relationship may give some special non-money gifts additionally.
