Experiences in Visiting Shanghai World Expo

with one comment

We went to visit Shanghai World Expo last Saturday night. Although I dislike the way that the Expo operates in China, I’d like to share my travel strategy.

First of all, plan the travel itinerary as detail as possible. The Expo park is very large across Pudong and Puxi, you probably get lost if you don’t decide in advance where you want to go.

Secondly, go there in working day or in the night. According to the past records, Saturday is usually the most crowded day in a week. The evening show starts from 5pm to 11pm, and the ticket price is 90 RMB. There are much less people waiting in line in the evening. We used 15 minutes to enter into Australian Pavilion, which usually takes 4 hours in the daytime.

Third, bring some snacks and dry food. Water is prohibited to bring in, but you don’t have to worry about that. Coke and milk sold in the park are not expensive enough compared to the food.

At last, take public transportation, it is not too bad. There are special Expo buses that cover most the Shanghai city, and the metro line 13 is even free for visitors.

During the Expo tour, you can ask volunteers any time, they are willing to help you.

Since it was the first time I went to the Expo, I didn’t have enough time to watch all pavilions. I will update if I have another chance to go there.
