Shanghai Taxi Fare Rises From July 9
Based on a series of discussion and public hearing, the government approved that Shanghai taxi fare is to be adjusted from July 9, 2011, and also the fuel surcharge will be put into effect in the same time. Generally speaking, passengers will pay 2 RMB more after the adjustment.
According to the announcement, the flag down fare for Shanghai taxi in urban area will rise 1 RMB, that’s from 12 RMB rising to 13 RMB. While for the regional taxi that can only operate in Shanghai suburb, the flag down fare will rise from 10 to 11 RMB. Additionally, the fuel surcharge will be simultaneously implemented. According to the stipulation, the surcharge is 1 RMB for a trip.

After implementing this price adjustment, the taximeter will directly display 14 RMB at the beginning in the daytime, and it will be 18 RMB in the nighttime for urban taxi. The freight rate per kilometer will remain unchanged.
