World Record Speed of China’s High Speed Railway

Yesterday, the new generation China Railway High-Speed train runs up to 416.6 kilometers per hour. It breaks the highest world record of experimental railway speed.

The newly finished high speed railway is between Shanghai and Hangzhou. It launched on Feb. 26, 2009, and completed on Aug. 6 this year. The whole railway is 202 km long and it takes 38 minutes from Shanghai to Hangzhou with the so high speed, which is 40 minutes shorter than the current highest CRH trains.

Pay Duty for Oversea Proxy Purchases

Since today, domestic customs will begin levying duty on imported postal items priced as low as 50 RMB. Before, only goods priced above 400 RMB from Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, or 500 RMB from other places would be charged tax.

As imported cosmetics in China are much expensive than that in US and concerning about the milk safety, proxy purchase of milk formula and cosmetics from overseas is very popular in the city of China.

Swimming Is a Luxury Consumption in Shanghai

With the weather getting hotter and hotter, swimming is a good sport for citizen. In shanghai and other big cities of China, swimming turns into a luxury consumption. It’s difficult to find a swimming pool that costs less than 20 RMB for a ticket.

I went to swim this afternoon with a friend in SMIC school located in Qingtong road. It costs us 350RMB to buy 11 tickets, nearly each for 32 RMB, compared to that the minimum monthly wage is 1120 RMB in Shanghai.

Imported Cosmetics in China Are Much Expensive Than That in US

One colleague traveled to Shanghai yesterday, and we had a dinner with some other colleagues in the Super Brand Mall tonight. The Japanese style BBQ was very delicious and we had a happy time together.

I had asked this colleague to buy three bottles of  Clinique lotion for me, each costs $24 and tax-free. After the dinner, we saw a Sephora (a shop sells cosmetics) at the entrance of the mall. We just walked around and found that the price of the Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion with Pump is 460RMB (about $67), almost 3 times expensive.
