Shanghai is a city with mixed culture. There are many churches in Shanghai that have very long history. Here is a list of top 6 churches in Shanghai.

1. Xujiahui Catholic Church. The formal name is St. Ignatius Cathedral of Shanghai and is a Gothic Roman Catholic cathedral. The address is No. 158 Puxi Road of Xuhui District. It opens to public at the weekend from 13:00 to 16:00.

2. Shanghai Community Church. It is a famous Protestant church in Shanghai and near consulates. The address is No. 53 Hengshan Road, Xuhui District.

3. Qingxin Church. It was the first church established by American Presbyterians (North) in 1860. The address is No. 30 Dachang Road, Huangpu District.

Yao Ming will Retire after 9 NBA Seasons

After 9 seasons, the NBA superstar from Shanghai of China will retire, the Alliance disclosed it last weekend. Yao Ming and his Yao team have not confirmed the message, while Yao team will hold a official conference in Shanghai on July 20 to introduce Yao Ming’s future plan.

Yao Ming has a great influence on Chinese people, and also the influence of NBA in China, especially the Houston Rockets. After the retiring news released, it has become the top one topic in China’s microblog Sina Weibo. Read full story…

The First China’s Got Talent

Yesterday Night, the final of the first China’s Got Talent show was held in Shanghai Indoor Stadium. From 8pm to 11pm, after three hours competition and live text message votes, Liu Wei, who lost his two hands in an accident, won the first champion of China’s Got Talent show.

China’s Got Talent is  a similar TV program that has performed in England and US. It was kicked off on Shanghai Dragon TV on July 25. In the three months intense contest, the program attracts large audiences across China.

Shanghai Plans to Attract More Foreign Professionals

Shanghai has issued a new set of guidelines aiming to strengthen services, possibly offer subsidies and other inducements, and improve living environment.

According to a survey, professionals and industry experts concern about the high tax rates, a rising cost of living and a lack of a mature medical system in Shanghai, which may reduce the city’s attraction for professionals from the rest of China and abroad.
