On Ashtami morning, Chittaranjan Park wakes to the dhaak. Pandals glow with the season's finest craftsmanship. The air carries incense and the scent of luchi frying. The lanes fill with neighbours in fresh taant and dhoti, and for a few hours a Delhi neighbourhood belongs entirely to Bengal.
Ashtomir Shokal invites guests past the festive spectacle into the neighbourhood that sustains it. The walk moves through markets, residential lanes, pandals, community spaces and the temple. Along the way it traces the migration, memory and belonging that turned a settlement for displaced East Bengal families into one of Delhi's most distinctive cultural enclaves.
