About the event
Starting at St. James’ Church, Kashmere Gate, one of the earliest churches in Delhi and a key colonial landmark, this walk explores lesser-known Christian histories within and around Shahjahanabad. The trail then moves to St. Mary’s Church near Lal Qila, a Roman Catholic space closely tied to the everyday lives of Old Delhi’s Christian community. The walk concludes at St. Stephen’s Church near Fatehpuri, where stories of missionary activity, education, and colonial-era urban life intersect with the bustling commercial heart of the old city. Together, these three churches offer a nuanced glimpse into how these institutions were woven into the social and spatial fabric of Old Delhi.
