About the event
Delhi has secrets. This one is 800 years old and still breathing.
Tales of City invites you to explore Sultan-e-Ghaari, a 13th-century monument that doesn’t shout for attention, but quietly holds some of the city’s earliest Sultanate stories. Also known as Sultan Garhi, it was built by a grieving father for his son, Nasir ud Din Mahmud- and in many ways, that emotion still lingers in the stone.
Led by Tokeer Khan, this walk isn’t about dates you’ll forget by Monday. It’s about how the site grew over centuries: royal burials nearby, a mosque added during the Tughlaq period, a long-lost tank marked only by an inscription and how people never really stopped coming back.
Even today, Sultan-e-Ghaari isn’t just visited, it’s believed in. Locals still gather here every Friday and on the saint’s death anniversary, making it one of Delhi’s rare monuments that’s still part of everyday life.
