The Books
Exquisite Things and Strange Wonders: In Defense of Persian Poetry
Amir Khusraw Dihlavi, edited and translated by Alyssa Gabbay
In 1294, Amir Khusraw wrote a preface to a collection of his poems, and it became celebrated in its own right. Part manifesto and part memoir, it defends poetry against its critics among the religious scholars and claims a central place for Persian poets in India.
