Onam Sadhya
Date: 5th to 7th Sept 2025
Café Lota presents Onam Sadhya at Crafts Museum | South Meets North on a Leaf, produced by Tales of City. This thoughtfully curated cultural experience brings Kerala’s most cherished festive meal, the Sadhya, into the heart of Delhi, creating an intimate celebration where food becomes a bridge between traditions, geographies, and communities.
Onam, Kerala’s harvest festival, is marked by the grand Sadhya feast served on banana leaves, featuring a diverse array of dishes that embody centuries of culinary wisdom, ritual, and memory. In Delhi, this experience reimagines the Sadhya as a meeting point of North and South, where culture is shared on a leaf, and conversations extend beyond the table.
Across three days, guests will be welcomed into a specially designed setting at the Crafts Museum, where each meal begins with reflections by Cultural Ambassadors—voices from across India who bring depth, insight, and personal connections to food and heritage. Following the conversations, the traditional Sadhya will be served in a ground-seated format, accompanied by live Carnatic music, creating a sensorial and immersive cultural encounter.
This gathering is designed as both a culinary and cultural exchange. It invites guests to look beyond the familiar images of South Indian food in North India—such as dosa and idli—and discover the vastness of its traditions, flavors, and philosophies. At the same time, it acknowledges the deep affection and respect with which North Indians embrace South Indian food, making the Sadhya a true celebration of shared tastes and stories.
